POSITION SUMMARY

The BIPOC Early Educator Pre-Apprenticeship Program (EEPAP) recognizes the need to create a pipeline of BIPOC early educators in the field of Early Childhood Education (ECE). This program aims to support and improve the quality, care, and education for BIPOC children by recruiting BIPOC ECE students to a career pipeline in the early childhood field.

Under the direction of the Senior Manager, the Engagement Coordinator will support the development of a growth and retention strategy for BIPOC early educators. This role will assist in designing and developing targeted outreach to workforce partners and strategic support to build the capacity of new BIPOC educators entering into the early childhood field. The Engagement coordinator will assist in ensuring the successful placement and transition of our BIPOC apprentices. This role will work closely with licensed childcare centers sites citywide and community partners serving as a liaison with employers to facilitate placements, permit attainment, and employment of our apprentices. The Engagement Coordinator will develop and manage workforce readiness portfolios for apprentices by tracking coursework completion, on the job training hours and other program activities. They will assist in planning and coordination of Fellowship (post program) activities and gatherings for our BIPOC educators including data tracking and input, and a variety of other duties as assigned.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To increase awareness and participation in the BIPOC EEPAP, the coordinator will assist in the design and implementation of a robust employer engagement plan by organizing meetings and planning engagement activities to develop strong employer partners.
  • Collaborate with agency staff, community, and local partners (childcare center administrators, higher educational institutions, grant and workforce partners) to ensure successful recruitment and retainment of our apprentices in the ECE field through outreach, relationship building and 1:1 support.
  • By supporting the Senior Manager, you will implement a recruitment strategy that leads to successful partnerships with early childcare centers citywide.
  • Act as the liaison to placement sites, childcare centers, and community partners to connect apprentices to resources and employers.
  • Responsible for building workforce readiness portfolios for apprentices (transcripts, completed training & onsite hours).
  • Provide administrative support so apprentices can obtain on-the-job training requirements and the permits necessary for gaining employment in the ECE field. Provide career pathway assistance to apprentices by connecting them to professional development advisors and developing resources as needed based on students’ needs.
  • Assist in designing and coordinating new employer orientation sessions, providing support in evaluating the program, and making recommendations for changes/improvements.
  • Responsible for tracking the program activities and engagement of students and employers, gathering data, and completing reports. Assist in tracking and monitoring assigned spending with project.
  • At the direction of the Senior Manager, attend Children’s Council and city-wide partner meetings and events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two years’ experience in a service-oriented role, preferably in a non-profit AA degree preferred.
  • Excellent administrative/organizational skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet multiple
  • Knowledge or experience working with the BIPOC community, specifically within the Pacific Islander and Black/African American communities.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication
  • Proficiency and experience working with database entry and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of ECE programs (or child development programs).
  • Ability to work independently in a structured

COVID Policies

All staff are required to be fully vaccinated (barring application for medical or religious exemptions). Wearing masks in the office is optional for our staff.

Hybrid Work

Children's Council has adopted a hybrid working model and currently require employees to be present in the office at least 3 days per week, with the option to work 2 days per week remotely. All applicants should be comfortable with both the remote and in office scenarios.
