On January 8th, our team had the privilege of presenting "Elevating the SF ECE Workforce: Empowering Educators Through Accessible Degree Pathways" at San Francisco's Child Care Planning and Advisory Council. We shared our commitment to removing barriers and creating accessible degree pathways that empower and uplift early childhood educators.
A highlight of our presentation was hearing directly from two of our soon-to-be graduates, Miley Cai (Kai Ming Educator) and Velma Moore (Wu Yee Educator), who shared heartfelt testimonies about their journeys in the program. They spoke about how EDvance has profoundly shaped their teaching practices and fostered personal growth beyond the classroom, underscoring the transformative power of accessible education and dedicated support from both the college and their employers.
One of the most inspiring moments came when a community member asked Velma how she balances full-time work with full-time studies. Her response was a testament to how robust the student support system is at EDvance.
"I definitely utilize their student support. I couldn’t have done it without their support."
As a mother of five, Velma shared how the guidance of her Student Success Advocate, as well as the encouragement from tutors and faculty, has been instrumental in overcoming challenges and reaching her final semester.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to share how EDvance is transforming the workforce and making a meaningful impact on the early childhood education (ECE) community. If you would like us to do a presentation for your local policy council (LPC), workforce committee, or other ECE organization, please reach out to anna.y@edvance.edu.
